I’ve tried a couple of other automatic litter boxes before; had the Litter Box for a few years and while I hated the fact that it looked like a miniature Death Star in my house, it worked pretty well. I tried the ChillX Box last year and it lasted all of 24 hours before I packed it up and sent it right back, what a waste of a cool-looking litter box. I cringed when I saw the price of this box BUT I’ve had really good experiences with Petfo products for my cat and the reviews were glowing for the most part, so I decided to give it a go.
My cat is still unsure about how she feels about this box, but that’s normal, she hates change. I, on the other hand, am kind of in love with it. Number one, it looks fantastic. Minimal and clean and, dare I say, attractive? The flat-top also gives me another surface for my cat to jump on or for me to add that extra air purifier for the bathroom! Win-win! It was easy to put together and easy to take apart for cleaning and maintenance. The design of the mechanisms is simple and effective, fairly quiet as well. The litter tray holds a surprising amount of litter, enough for my cat who loves digging to dig to her heart’s content, and somehow it’s deep enough that she has to try very, very hard to fling her litter outside the box, which is one of her very favorite things to do. It’s also large enough inside for her to turn around and around and she’s not a small cat at all.
And that brings me to the extra features; The included litter mat is absolutely wonderful, I no longer have litter all over the bathroom floor. The scent refresher feature is something I haven’t used all that much yet since I am still trying to get my cat comfortable with using the box regularly, I will start using it when she doesn’t need supervision and encouragement to go potty. I LOVE that this has connectivity with the app and that I can keep track of litter amounts, waste amounts and the weight of my cat with it.
The only criticism I might have is that I can smell the waste container. I suppose there’s really only so much you can do about that in a self-contained litter box though and it might also depend on the type of litter you use. I had been using Pine Litter for the past year and I think it’s amazing for odors (plus makes the room smell like a sawmill, which is amazing) but this box says it can’t be used with it…which I actually need to test. So I’ve been using a combination of Tofu and Clay and I have been smelling the litterbox smells for the first time in a year. So there’s that. Your mileage may vary.
Overall, I have had a wonderful experience with this box and would highly recommend it to any cat owner.
