Warren Selman, M.D., Chief Medical Executive of Marcus Neuroscience Institute
TRANSCRIPT: – My name is Dr. Warren Selman. I’m the Chief Medical Executive at Marcus Neuroscience Institute, a part of Baptist Health. My area of expertise is brain surgery. Specifically, I take care of tumors of the brain and disorders of the blood vessels of the brain, such as vascular malformations or aneurysms. So patients should be aware that I treat disorders of the brain specifically, such as brain tumors. Those can be pituitary tumors, meningiomas. And I also treat disorders of the blood vessels of the brain, such as brain aneurysms or vascular malformations. One of my most memorable patients was actually a nurse who worked for us, and she suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. We were able to take care of her. She got back to her normal health, and actually one of her children was so inspired by that, that she became a nurse as well. So it really is passing on a legacy. My philosophy of care is pretty simple and straightforward, really. It’s first listen to the patient and then, as my mentor told me, do the right thing. So, quality of life figures into how I treat patients in that I don’t think you can be a good physician without taking into consideration what a patient views as their quality of life. And we wanna make sure that we optimize that in any treatment plan that we recommend. So I think what sets Marcus Neuroscience Institute apart is the people. It really always comes down to the people. We have an amazingly dedicated group of healthcare professionals and administrators, and they’re working on a common goal, and that is provide the best care possible.
