Pre-Decide Week 4: Getting Closer to God

Pre-Decide Week 4: Getting Closer to God

Rev. Scott J. Babin C.B.C.

When faced with __________ (this situation),
I have pre-decided ___________ (to take this action).

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33 NIV

I will seek first the One who matters most.
I am devoted to Jesus.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. Acts 2:42-43 NIV
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 NIV

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” John 15:4 NIV

• Pre-decide a time.
• Pre-decide a place.
• Pre-decide a plan.
Read Acts 2:42-43. What does it mean to be devoted to Jesus? How does your life compare to the lives of these early followers of Christ?

What are some ways that you practice being devoted to Jesus throughout the week? Talk about some differences between being partially devoted and fully devoted.

Describe a time or moment when you felt close to God. How does that time compare to your life right now, and what might need to change in your life to begin feeling close to God again?
