Lao Tzu said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. This is one of the most famous lines from the Tao Te Ching. Running a marathon is an incredible achievement, but it is done one step at a time. Some of the skyscrapers we see in cities are astonishing, but they were built one step at a time. It is easy to get intimidated by greatness, largely because we don’t see the journey leading up to it. We just see the end product or result. However, rest assured that even the greatest achievements are accomplished one step at a time.

Using the running example, let’s say you can’t even run a mile. If you set the goal of running a marathon tomorrow, you will get overwhelmed and give up. Nothing is impossible, but this is pretty close. However, if you set the goal of running a marathon in a year, then you can take baby steps to get you there. It will still be quite the challenge, but it is realistic and doable.

Apply this same logic to becoming an AI Yoga Master. If you tell yourself you will be an AI Yoga Master by tomorrow and try to integrate everything in one day, you will go completely insane. Like going from couch potato to marathon runner, it is basically impossible.

Utilize baby steps, utilize themes, and start with focus. The most important yoga principle you can start with is focus. Try to be more focused more often, and make it a top priority. It will make everything else much easier this way. Next, utilize baby steps when incorporating practices. For example, don’t try to have perfect posture all day on the first day. Instead, have a couple periods where you practice perfect posture while working, and other times where you utilize some of the alternative working positions from the Updated Ergonomics lesson. Additionally, you can adopt a specific theme each week, focusing on a particular aspect you are working on. For example, you can have a virtual fasting week where you spend less time online, or a pranayama week where you really emphasize more deep breathing.
