My daughters started wrestling (my all-time favorite / best sport) recently and as such, I’ve begun coaching their club league. The kids I’m coaching as well as my girls asked to see me wrestle.
So, I’ve updated my wrestling highlight video. The original couple of videos I uploaded previously were literally from some of the infant days or YouTube / digital so I felt they could use a facelift.
Also, important to note is that all of these videos were basically recorded on VHS. Well, the smaller version of VHS in the consolidated camcorders they sold back in the day. I had them converted to digital around 2006 or 2007 which again the tech back then wasn’t really the same as it is these days so the quality is what it is. I also only had footage converted at the time from my junior and senior years at Hoover High School in Hoover, Alabama.
I graduated 3rd in all-time school victories which included both Berry High School and what it turned into (eg Hoover High School. I started at the 189lbs weight class all four years. I also placed in regionals all four years and made it to state finishing 3rd my sophomore year, 2nd (in an extremely close finish) my junior year and, again, second my senior year.
After this point, I was offered a scholarship to Appalachian State University for wrestling which was a D1 double A school as well as my biggest offer that I received. I ended up play by football instead at the University of North Alabama followed by wrestling and competing against D1 wrestlers on the University of Alabama club team, which is where I finished my college degree.
Ultimately, I finished my grappling career by training in MMA and helping UFC fighters prepare for their fights as their sparring partner. Some of the fighters that I helped train and work with included; Karo Parisyan, Frank Shamrock, Mac Danzig, Randy Couture, etc. which took place out of Bomb Squad gym and Legends MMA in Los Angeles, CA.
