Dans l’exposition «FEELING HER WAY», présentée en nord-américaine à la Fondation PHI, l’artiste Sonia Boyce DBE invite quatre chanteuses (Poppy Ajudha, Jacqui Dankworth MBE, Sofia Jernberg et Tanita Tikaram) à participer à une séance d’improvisation vocale sous la direction d’Errollyn Wallen CBE.
Ce jeu d’expérimentation oblige les chanteuses à mettre de côté leurs inhibitions et, surtout, à renoncer à la «perfection». L’œuvre devient un gigantesque instrument multisensoriel de connexion, de solidarité et de liberté, tout en permettant à l’identité unique de chacune des femmes de s’exprimer et de résonner.

In the exhibition “FEELING HER WAY,” presented for the first time in North America at the PHI Foundation, artist Sonia Boyce DBE invites four female singers (Poppy Ajudha, Jacqui Dankworth MBE, Sofia Jernberg and Tanita Tikaram) to take part in a vocal improvisation session under the direction of Errollyn Wallen CBE.
This experimentation forces the singers to let go of their inhibitions and, above all, “perfection.” The work becomes a giant, multi-sensorial instrument of connection, kinship, and freedom, while also allowing each woman’s unique identity to breathe and resonate.
