Story Insight #5 – Why you should record your story before you write it.mp4

In the early part of my coaching career, I made a big mistake with clients. I would ask them to write out their stories.

Why is that a mistake?

Because the written word looks good on paper, but it doesn’t always sound good to the ear. I call it going into author mode.

One of the most important skills you can develop as a storyteller is to be conversational, be true to your authentic voice. When you write you, take yourself out of that.

My suggestion for clients now is to record yourself video or audio. This keeps you in your conversational style.

We have an AI driven tool that records your video and transcribes it for you so you don’t have to write it out. We can then review the transcription and create the proper structure. We take you through the main character’s journey and improve the text, but most importantly this process helps you maintain your authentic voice.

How can you do this?

Recording yourself first, then write your story.
